24th Annual Show Report |
|
|
On November 28th,
29th, and 30th, the Canadian Dove Association held the 24th Annual Show
& Sale with the Specialty Pigeon Show in the Oxford Auditorium on the
Woodstock, Fairgrounds. This was our second time showing as part of this
show, and again we received a welcome far beyond our expectations. There
were an astonishing number of fanciers visiting our section throughout the
day. The CDA members found themselves kept very busy answering questions
about raising Domestic Doves and Foreign Pigeons. All in all, this
year’s show was another tremendous success. There were 30 Ring Neck Doves shown in 11 different mutations; 24 Diamond Doves shown in 13 different mutations; 14 Doves were shown in the section for Senegal Doves and Smaller in 7 species, and 8 Doves were shown in 7 species in the section of the show for Doves Larger than Senegal Doves. It was disappointing to see the numbers drop off from last year, but it was encouraging to see three juniors showing a total of 4 Ring Neck Doves.
We would like to thank our judge Mike Rex, Bay City, Michigan, our clerk
Ken Becker, the show manager, Rick Dawdry, and the auctioneer, Bernie Van
Erp. We would also like to say "Thank You" to all the suppliers
and members who donated items of interest to the auction, which raised
$227.00. Thank you for your generous support and contributions! After the
show and sale on Saturday, we gathered at the Copa-Cabana Steak House for
dinner, and the presentation of our show awards. SPECIAL AWARD WINNERS
